Searching for a dog trainer or kennel facility can be arduous
task. More than “just a pet,” our dogs are very important
family members and always treated as such. Trusting them to
just any trainer is not an option. After many months of
research the kennel and gun dog training facility of choice for
our sixteen month old English Setter is Countryside Kennels
in Bad Axe, Michigan.

Owner, Jim “Lucky” Miller has been training and breeding
sporting dogs now for four decades.  His extensive
knowledge and experience with dog handling, understanding
of breeds, work ethic and honesty are second to none.
Nestled in the farmland of Bad Axe Michigan Jim’s kennels
are very clean, neat, well organized and a place that I felt very
comfortable leaving our Setter, Annie. We would miss her but
were very confident that she would be well taken care of.

At Countryside Kennels the expansive acreage with various
habitats, developed by Jim, are a trainer and gun dog
paradise. Native Prairie grasses, Autumn Olive, wooded
timber, great mixes of cover, three ponds for water dogs,
intelligent care and training, Countryside Kennels has it all.

Unfortunately busy schedules, lack of time and training
knowledge is often the case for many hunters that long to
have a well trained hunting partner. That was certainly the
case for me. Jim Miller has turned my once unruly year old
Setter, that was more than a handful, into a well trained
grouse hunting partner. Considering the short time that Annie
was with Jim I feel he was able to complete miracles with
her. Is she perfect? No, but she is a manageable dog that will
be a great hunting partner in the coming seasons. I can
assure you that if future training is needed for Annie it will be
with Countryside Kennels without a doubt.
