Sporting Dog Rescues
Pointers, Flushers, Retrievers, Hounds, we can all debate what is the best dog breed. In
the end most hunters will agree that there is great satisfaction watching a dog of any
breed work in the field.
One of my favorite things is to watch my Pointer working the scent of a Ruffed Grouse on a
beautiful fall day. When Grouse hunting in the Upper Peninsula  I often come across groups
of Bear Hunters with their Hounds on the chase, those guys know how to have fun. Their
dogs are incredible, someday I will experience a hunt over Hounds.

Our Story

While searching the web for breeders, my wife stumbled
across something very interesting. There are various
groups of people out there that have dedicated a large
part of their lives to rescuing dogs, usually a breed that
they enjoy. Their dedication to the dogs they rescue
amazes me.

I found myself surprised at the quality of dogs they have.
Most are purebred, various ages and personalities and all
have a heart-wrenching story of how they ended up at a
rescue.

After doing some homework she found a beautiful
English Pointer.  I figured there had to be a reason the
dog was at the rescue, gun shy, completely disobedient,
there must be something. Turns out the dog is the best
dog I have had yet. Very intelligent, just needed a good
home and someone to hunt with.  I can tell you that there
was great satisfaction adopting our Pointer from a
rescue and bringing her into our home.  These animals
truly need and deserve a forever home.
For those of you with a new dog in your future, take a
look at rescue organizations.  Yes, puppies are cute,
cuddly and small, but there are many advantages to
adopting a rescue dog as well.  Most come spayed or
neutered, up to date with shots, and in many cases
micro-chipped.  You also have the added benefit of
personality analysis.  The rescue can help you match a dog
in need of a home with the desires of your family.  In
most cases the adoption fee is small considering what
your dog may have invested in it at time of adoption.
